Gary Pearce's 60-Minute Thermal Laser Safety Rule

Before permanently bolting an expensive 4K OLED or Neo-QLED television above a working fireplace, we perform an infrared laser thermal audit. Stoke the stove to full operating temperature for 60 minutes. Measure the surface of the chimney breast at the proposed mounting height. If the temperature exceeds 40°C (104°F), manufacturer warranties are voided unless a deep mantelpiece or angled steel deflector hood is installed.

≤ 35°C (Safe) Zero electronic degradation. Standard flush or tilting bracket permissible.
36°C – 44°C (Caution) Requires minimum 20cm mantelpiece or drop-down pull-down mantel bracket.
> 45°C (Danger Zone) Guaranteed capacitor swelling & panel failure. Thermal heat shield mandatory.
